Senator Galuteria is running for re-election to the State Senate from District 12 to enable the people living in Waikīkī, Ala Moana, Kakaʻako, McCully, and Mōʻiliʻili, to live and build the best lives for themselves and their families.


Over the last 10 years, Senator Galuteria has introduced and passed significant legislation and funding to improve the lives of the people living in his district:

  • championed the construction of affordable housing

  • built collaborations between the State and City to fund homeless programs

  • fought to protect the health and safety of young children in licensed day care facilities

  • successfully advocated for funding and programs to improve the ability of our kupuna to live and age in place

  • created a new senior center in Kakaʻako (Nā Kupuna Makamae Center)

  • secured millions in funding to improve school facilities

  • secured millions to clean and repair the Ala Wai Watershed and canal

  • secured millions to protect Waikīkī beach from erosion


Senator Galuteria has earned the respect of his colleagues inside the legislature by the responsibilities he has earned and been given.

Senator Galuteria founded the not-for-profit Kūleana Breakfast Club two years ago, an organization of musicians dedicated to helping other musicians who have fallen on hard times and need help to meet medical and other necessary expenses. The Club holds benefit concerts and has helped over 15 musicians to date.


Senator Galuteria was raised in the Kakaʻako area, where his entire family worked, played, and attended church. The Galuteria family lived across from what is now the John A. Burns School of Medicine, an "urban plantation" at the time where he and his friends would surf the waters off Point Panic. It was there that Senator Galuteria developed developed a deep appreciation for this area of Oʻahu. Senator Galuteria became a fixture in the local community into his 

adulthood, as a family man, businessman, and public servant.


Family is the center of Senator Galuteria’s universe. He is married to wife Abigail Lehua, and has three sons and two daughters as well as nine grandchildren.
